Our college library was established in the year 1973. Initially the PG & MBA Library was part of the Degree Library as the collection of books increased a separate PG Library was set up in the year 1996 and In 2018 an exclusive MBA Library was set up.

Library Week:

National Library Week is observed from 14th November to 20th November every year. In view of this, we organize few library activities like Book Exhibitions, Book Review, Essay Writing competition Debate, Book mark, comperition Elocution, Collage Competition in the College premises.

Book Exhibitions:

Book Exhibition are held during the Library Week. Reference Books and general books from the Library collection are displayed. Our collection is always updated according to the revised syllabus.

Orientation Programme:

The KGCW MBA and PG Library conducts an orientation program for the first year Students. User Orientation Programmes involve introducing a new member to the Library and its activities, services, rules and regulations, and library facilities are provided to the users Since the collection in a College library is large, library tools such as classification and cataloguing, bibliographies, new addition lists, etc. are designed to guide the user in locating the information quickly. But, these tools are not easy to understand for a lay person. Hence, layout of various sections in the library is displayed.

EVENTS / HIGHLIGHTS

  • National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role that libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities.
  • National Library Week is observed from 14th November to 20th November every year.
  • Organised a book exhibition in the college premises.
  • Reference books, loose issues and Bound volumes of periodicals are not for issue.
  • A book will be issued to a borrower against production of library cards.
  • Library cards are not transferable.
  • All member should obtain a “NO DUES” certificate after completing the course for refund of caution deposit or for other purpose after surrendering the Library Borrower Cards and also paying any dues outstanding against them.
  • Books loaned may be renewed for a further period provided no other members has reserved the same.
  • Overdue charges will be collected if books are not returned by due date.
  • If a book is lost, the borrower has to replace the book.
  • Members are responsible for any damage caused by them to the books and will be required to pay the penalty imposed upon them by the Librarian.

A LIBRARY IS A STOREHOUSE OF KNOWLEDGE

The KGCW MBA and PG Library serves as a resource centre and aims to develop a comprehensive collection of books, journals and newspapers and e-resources useful for students and faculty of the college and provides an efficient dissemination of Knowledge.

Initially the MBA &PG Library was a part of the degree college library .As the collection of books and journals increased with introduction of new courses a separate fully fledged MBA & PG Library with a qualified librarian was established in the year 1996.

The Collection of books has been increasing rapidly. The present collection of MBA & PG books are 18262.

The library collection over a period of years has catered to various need of the clientele student’s, staff and others. The library has always catered to the special needs of the faculty who were involved in research work.

Apart from the general textbooks, the library has a varied collection of informative, educative and interesting reference books such as general and subject encyclopedias and dictionaries are referred frequently by the students.

The Dewey decimal classification is followed for arranging books in the library.

Objectives:

  • To cater to special needs of the Lecturers who are involved in Research work.

GENERAL RULES

  • Members shall observe silence in the Library
  • Using cell phones in side the Library is prohibited
  • Members shall not bring personal belongings and Library books issued to them inside the Library
  • Students shall not be allowed to sit in the Library during Class hours
  • Members shall not write upon and damage or mark any book Belonging to the Library

LIBRARY RULES FOR BORROWING BOOKS

  • Loan period for a book is two weeks for the students, one semester For faculty.
  • Issue may be renewed for a further period if the document is not reserved by other readers.
  • Library Material borrowed for overnight/weekend use should be Returned at 10.00 AM the next working day
  • Library cards are not transferable.
  • Students must satisfy themselves about the physical condition of the Books before borrowing, If any page(s) are missing or damaged in from the Same to the Library staff on duty. otherwise, the borrower shall be held responsible . for any damage noticed
  • Reference books with a single copy, current periodicals, Journals of Back volumes ,project are not for issue and it should be referred within the Library.
  • Students should return their library borrower cards after completion of their course to obtain a NO- Due certificate.

PENALITIES FOR BREAKING RULES

  • Avoid Making pencil/pen marks, ,underlining, dog ear marks .tear pages, or other of damage to the book(s). If any such things are noticed at the time of returning the books, the borrower will be held responsible
  • Overdue charges will be collected if books are not returned by due date
  • In case the book is lost ,the borrower has to replace the same edition or latest edition

ALL USERS MUST PROTECT THE COLLEGE’S E-RESOURCES FROM UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS

  • Users should access the Library Resource. LAN , subscribed/ open access resources including the internet for educational purpose only.
  • Users are prohibited from using the e-Resource centre for sending , receiving on downloading illegal or exchanging sensitive/ confidential information via the internet.
  • Take all appropriate precautions when accessing Institution Subscribed E-Resources
  • Take care to access e-Resources only from secure environments and to Logout of sessions before leaving.
